Mission

To create a knowledge-rich society by collecting books, magazines, newspapers and other sources of knowledge that will help in the development of your intelligence with the aim of improving the knowledge and attitudes of the community living in our local council jurisdiction.

Introduction

Mawanella Children’s Library can be known as a library established in the year 2012 to improve the knowledge of children in Mawanella Regional Council area. There are currently about 403 members and there are about 3220 children’s books in various fields. Taking recommendations from the Library Advisory Committee, the Mawanella Regional Council provides free library facilities to the children of the area by using the council fund. The following facilities are provided in the library for the convenience of the readers who come to use the library on a daily basis and to provide superior service to them.

I. Books classified according to div decimal classification.
II. Books are categorized by subject by color for ease of identification.
III. Reading facilities.
IV. An opportunity has been reserved for reader suggestions and complaints.
V. Increase in number of books annually.

Application Fee – Rs.10.00
A child inside and outside the local council jurisdiction
Giving a membership for – Rs.50.00
Within the local council jurisdiction and local council jurisdiction
Admission of membership outside the area – Rs.50.00
Library membership renewal fee – Rs 50.00
Reading club monthly membership fee – Rs.50.00
Book late fee per day – Rs.5.00
Fee charged for a lost book Department fee – 25%+ of the book value
